FIA GT Championship - Zolder (Belgium): Review
Autumn has arrived in Belgium. All the competitors in the FIA GT Championship will need to brave the cold Limburg climate. The Lamborghini Murciélago R-GT, with its southern temperament can’t fully handle these cold conditions. During the first free practice Jos Menten and Peter Kox have trouble trying to get their tyres up to temperature: “Typical Belgian weather, and our Lambo doesn’t really like it …”, Menten commented after the first free practice – during which the black-orange Lamborghini finished in thirteenth place. “To be honest it was really a reference time. Things will improve later on.”

FIA GT Championship - Nogaro - Reiter Engineering skips penultimate round
The ninth round of the FIA GT is scheduled for 29th and 30th September next, the penultimate race of the season. “Our eighth place in Brno was a bitter pill to swallow”, a disappointed Jos Menten comments, looking back on the Czech Republic weekend. “It’s difficult for me to express what I felt. We have never been that so close to a top result this year. A wheel nut which was the difference between celebrating with champagne and a meek point for finishing … but as always I only try to look at the positive side: fastest during practice, fastest time in the warm-up and the fastest race lap.”

The summer season offered up a highly welcome change. Following on from the bad luck at the beginning of the season it now looks as though the tide has changed for Jos Menten. The Haelen based driver has clocked up three victories these last two months in the ADAC GT Masters, and a fourth podium was on the books had it not been for a broken wheel hub during the second race at the Saschenring last weekend.

FIA GT Championship - 24 Hours of Spa (Belgie): tough luck for the Dutchmen
The Total 24 Hours of Spa 2007 promises to be one of the most exiting editions in its history. With their sixth spot on the grid there are great race perspectives ahead for Jos Menten, Peter Kox and Jeroen Bleekemolen. The traditional Spa weather conditions on Saturday morning give the HD GIGAWAVE Reiter Engineering team the opportunity to experience wet track conditions. Not wishing to take any unnecessary risks Jeroen Bleekemolen takes the warm-up session: “It seem opportune for us to take in as many laps as possible in the rain. We did have a small problem with the drive shaft, but that was soon sorted out”, Jos Menten tells us. “The latest weather reports tells us that rain will put in an appearance as from midnight. This is why Jeroen tested out various types of rain tyres, and we now know which rubbers we need to use. The older type seems to perform better, and we’re fully prepared for a wet race … so bring on the rain!”

FIA GT Championship - 24 Hours of Spa (Belgie): third row for Menten-Kox-Bleekemolen
On the even of the first free practice sessions, within the framework of the Total 24 Hours of Spa, the FIA ‘s Court of Appeal confirmed that PK Carsport has had its victory at Oschersleben annulled. For Jos Menten and Peter Kox this implies that they have now climbed up to fifth place; clinching four points on the way in the championship: “We could have earned these four points on our own, had it not been for the fact that I was spun around during the first lap by another competitor. You then see a third or fourth place slipping out of your fingers … but we have now made it to Spa for the sixth race of the championship. We now need to confirm our previous good form”, Jos Menten commented.

Team Modena finished the first evening of qualifying for the 2007 Le Mans 24-Hour race sixth quickest in the LM GT1 class, and the pace-setter of the privately run Aston Martin DBR9s. As the track dried after an earlier rain shower, times dropped at the end of the session, when Antonio Garcia went out with 15-minutes remaining and set the car's quickest lap of the night. "It's been a funny evening with red flags and rain, which all happened at the point where the track is usually the quickest," said Team Modena Sporting Director Rik Bryan. On Saturday morning the Lamborghini Murciélago R-GT of All-Inkl.com Reiter Lamborghini was still looking for the right rhythm. Hans Reiter decides to change tack with the tuning and that appears to work out. However the improved set-up is unfortunately not converted into an ideal grid starting position during the 15 minutes long qualifying session. For the second race of the season Jos Menten and Peter Kox find themselves back on the sixth row of the grid for the start…..but after a mere one hour of racing the race is over for the Dutch duo.
